Ultimate What?

by Jonny Rokket

Remember this guy? This crazy looking freak driving the one and only Hulk Hogan down to his knees? Sure you do. This wild & wooly guys name is the Ultimate Warrior who started out in Mid-South Wrestling as one half of the tag team The Blade Runners with the dude who would eventually be known simply as "Sting". He would have a short stint in World Class Championship Wrestling as the Dingo Warrior before landing in the WWF, eventually coming out on top in the "Ultimate Challenge" beating Hogan for Hogan's WWF World Title. The Warrior would have two other "brief stints in the WWF before boring the crap out of fans with the longest misunderstood monologue in wrestling history in WCW in 1998.

Then he disappeared while his "Clark Kent" alter ego kept appearing from time to time.

Then it happened...April, 2008, Madrid Spain, during a confrontation with Orlando Jordan during a Nu Wrestling Entertainmwnt event.

A match was signed...The Ultimate Warrior was back. Why?

Watch this clip from the pre-match press conference in Barcelona, Spain and you may ask yourself the same question. Warrior announces that he will soon turn 49, like it's an amazing thing.

If that's not a good enough reason to question the Warrior's return, perhaps this video of the actual match will do the trick. Maybe the reason he announced his upcoming 49th birthday was so everyone in attendance wouldn't go "damn he looks old, and he wrestles like my grandpa.

If you were a Warrior fan growing up you may wish to refrain from watching this clip. It may make you want to toss out your old Warrior action figures.

Anyway, happy belated birthday Warrior. Hopefully when you blew out the candles on your cake you wished for the clock to turn back to 1998.

Or a brain transplant.
