Results: FCW Heat Stroke - 8/23/08

Flatline Championship Wrestling results from "Heat Stroke" on August 23 at Liberty Park in Grovetown, GA.

On Saturday August 23rd Flatline Championship Wrestling made it's Liberty Park debut bringing CSRA wrestling to a whole new area of wrestling fans. As always FCW CEO Daniel E. Mayne was introduced to address the crowd presenting a hint of what was to follow during the course of the evening.

Nick Kismet vs. Italian Ice
In the opening bout the new "Loudest Man in FCW" Nick Kismet took on FCW newcomer Italian Ice. Amidst chants of "Pizza Boy" and "Pepperoni Head" Italian Ice took the battle to Kismet before being wrapped up by FCW's loudest wrestler for the 1-2-3.

Hallowicked vs. Venom
Originally a scheduled bout between Hallowicked and FCW World Champion Devon Wright, this match changed drastically with Wright distracting Hallowicked from outside the ring leaving an opening for Hells Kitchen's own Venom to creep into the ring and attack Hallowicked from behind. After a vain attempt by Venom to schoolboy the massive Hallowicked the tide would quickly turn leaving Venom with one more mark in the loss column.

Matt Crosby vs. The Common Man
This match between two of the largest wrestlers in FCW would eventually get even bigger following a Crosby disqualification for hitting "below the belt". Crosby would follow-up by calling down Big Game James and Tyson Riddick out to try and take out the Common Man once and for all. With security in the ring and order shortly restored, the Common Man would challenge the three big men to a two-on-three handicap match that would include his little brother. After mutual agreement on both sides and confirmation by CEO Daniel E. Mayne, the Common Man's "little" brother was introduced revealing the "not so little" Big Hoss. In the end it would be the difference in the match as the big man was too much for Crosby, James & Riddick to overcome leaving brother Big Hoss and the Common Man with the win.

Rage Division Championship
Chris Mayne(c) vs. Ethan Case vs. Chris Hamrick

In one of the most electrifying matches of the night, FCW Rage Champion Chris Mayne took on "The New Release" Ethan Case and "ECW Original" Chris Hamrick in a three-way fight for the Rage title. With high-flying action in and out of the ring all three wrestlers took turns grabbing the momentum before Mayne wrapped up Case to retain the title.

V.I.P w/ Ms. Harden vs. The Internationals
Following intermission John Malus, recovering from an attack a few weeks ago, came out to address the crowd responding to rumors of his possible return top the ring. The announcement was cut short by the arrival of V.I.P. Brandon Paradise and Cali Casanova with Ms. Harden, still reeling from losing the tag team belts at the September 9th Rage event. Following an exchange of words, Daniel E. Mayne would call out new opponents for the former tag champs, non other than Ms. Harden's former clients the reunited Internationals-Hans Baumgartner and The Live Organ. For the majority of the match momentum shifted equally back and forth before Baumgartner used the Eagle Drop onto Paradise for the pinfall.

King of the Ladder Match
Josh Magnum(c) vs. Darkness vs. Johnny Blaze

In what was one of the most brutal ladder matches in FCW history, the King of the Ladder himself, Josh Magnum took on Darkness and "Juggalo" Johnny Blaze. No strangers to ladders themselves, the challengers would prove to be worthy opponents for Magnum making quick use of three ladders of varying size. With high-flying action in and out of the ring, all three combatants would literally end up leaving blood and sweat in the ring before Darkness would gain the pinfall and crown of "King of the Ladder".

Devon Wright vs. Sixx
In one of the more unusual moments of the night, FCW World Champion Devon Wright came to the ring and announced his opponent for the for the final match of the night by grabbing a fan from the audience and throwing him into the ring. Daniel E. Mayne quickly stopped the match and announced a new opponent for the match-The American Nightmare Sixx! What then began as a simple non-title bout between the two long-time rivals turned into a hardcore mellee as chairs, thumb tacks and even a barbed wire board were introduced into the match. In the end Sixx would prevail by dropping Wright onto tacks with "The Omen" for the 1-2-3. Following the match the fan that Wright attacked to start the match would return to the ring to repay the favor.

All-in all Heat Stroke '08 lived up to it's billing as the "Big Damned Event of the Summer" with a loud rowdy audience and incredible action. The only question that remains is how will this affect FCW's next event September 13th at Patriots Park? Fans will just have to come out and see!

On Patrol with the Wrestling Mole

While many would think that a mole such as myself, the great Barry Molea might spend most of his time buried in a hole...think again. The mole with the biggest ears in the world has been on patrol so beware...whatcha gonna do when the Molester comes for you!

Does Someone Need Schooling Department?

Now first off it doesn't take a mole to get a glimpse of some of the surprises coming up in the rest of the month for FCW. If all my little Mole-a-maniacs have been taking their Hulk chewables and saying their four hail Solie's a day then they would know that there is deep talk of two FCW superstars possibly making their return to Flatline in the upcoming weeks. It all makes sense-two upcoming FCW events, two returning superstars? Brains and Ale are definitely all the Rage this time of year especially when the temperature is hot enough to catch Heat Stroke.

The Ring Someone's Neck Department

It's now old news that after some manuevering TWF has recovered it missing ring. For many this puts an end to the whole clsuter funk but there is still one question that remains (of which many parts exist). Whatever happened to the guy who borrowed the ring in the first place? Some say he was boarded up in a backyard shed when the troops arrived to take back the ring while another source stated that the AWA co-founder was "hiding under his grandma's bed". Maybe we'll NEVER know!!! All I can say is that he better not be holed up in my burrow!!!

Get the Pine Straw Outta My Ass Department

Recently as I was checking out the other posts on this here mighty fine blog page I noticed a video from an outdoor event called "Obsession". At first I thought I might be about to check out an old perfume commercial but lo and behold there in broad daylight was a ring surrounded by cinder blocks, old wood, and other debris. What made this interesting was the appearance by several former wrestlers from another area company. Now either this is sort of like Favre going to the Jets or the biggest and best kept secret in all of CSRA wrestling. I'm gonna go with the first choice...just because I like how Favre is spelled differently than it is pronounced.

and in the Thank God I've run Out of Crap to Talk About Department

So what if Tomco left TNA...so what if foley ends up leaving WWE. Maybe they can get together and co-write some children's workout books...

Barry

FCW Mention in Pro Wrestling Illustrated

CSRA wrestling organization Flatline Championship Wrestling has garnered a mention in long-time wrestling magazine Pro Wrestling Illustrated. The blurb, located on page 50 of the September 2008 issue features the organization's web address as well as current FCW Heavyweight and Rage Division Champions Devon Wright and Chris Mayne.
(see picture below)

Recognized as the wrestling's number one magazine since the first issue hit stands in 1979, Pro Wrestling Illustrated has featured the top superstars as well as up and coming wrestlers over the past 29 years. In addition to the "Your Guide to the Independents" in which FCW is mentioned, the September 2008 issue also features a special mid-year report as well as a cover story on WWE superstar Randy Orton.

It has come to the attention of the staff here at Mat Chat that this issue has been hard to find. After extensive searching we can report that a healthy supply can be found at the Books-A-Million on Washington road.

A Happy 45th Birthday to Al Snow!

Like was reported earlier, a lot of the FCW crew headed down to Goose Creek, SC for some OSCW action this past Sunday. Of course this always means a great time at the after party. This time was no different. Peeps was grubbin' & chuggin' and a good time was had by all!

Especially Big John Malus!

In this great clip, posted online by Nick Kismet, a past tipsy Malus receives a lesson in German from former WWE/ECW hardcore legend Al Snow with a little assistance from the normally non-compliant Hans Baumgartner.

I guess beer and food can bring people together...at least until the hangover the next day! This is too funny!

Al Snow Teaches Jon Malus German!!!!

And while we're on the subject of Al Snow, another video, submitted for your entertainment pleasure! Al Snow takes on the minis!

Happy Birthday Al!
