Sent to us from Harley Race, asking us to pass along "to any workers wanting to be looked at by WWE or Prowrestling Noah":
Finding success in professional wrestling requires a strong work ethic, talent, dedication, and, perhaps most importantly, being in the right place at the right time. The annual Harley Race/Pro-Wrestling NOAH camp has proven itself to be the right place for the professional wrestler looking to take the biggest step in his career.
Getting signed by a large promotion begins with a wrestler making himself visible to its scouts, and the camp offers visibility like no other camp or seminar in the business. The Harley Race/Pro-Wrestling NOAH camp is the only place a wrestler can receive guidance and instruction from an eight-time World Heavyweight Champion, Pro-Wrestling NOAH, and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) at the same time. With all major promotions seeking new talent like never before, there has never been a better time for a wrestler to attend the Harley Race/Pro-Wrestling NOAH camp than in 2008.
The camp has evolved from a small, one-week seminar into an international talent showcase: the 2007 camp featured wrestlers from four different continents. It has launched wrestlers’ careers, such as Robert Anthony, Keith Walker, and referee John Cone, who all signed developmental contracts with WWE shortly after attending camp, and Bobby Fish, who has made several trips to Japan with Pro-Wrestling NOAH after catching the eye of scouts at the camp. In addition to training provided by Race and trainers from his wrestling academy--a school which has produced WWE superstar Trevor Murdoch and developmental talents Ted DiBiase, Jr. and Joe Hennig--instruction will also be given by representatives from Pro-Wrestling NOAH and WWE.
Pro-Wrestling NOAH has already confirmed that they will be represented by GHC Heavyweight Champion Takeshi Morishima and Naomichi Marufuji, as well as Ken Hirayama and owner Ryu Nakata, at the 2008 camp.
Past WWE representatives have included Tom Pritchard, John Laurinitis (Johnny Ace), Mike Bucci (Simon Dean), and Mike Rotundo.
The camp is open to both current and aspiring professional wrestlers. It consists of cardiovascular conditioning, in-ring drills, and matches, as well as instruction on match structure, psychology, character development and marketing, microphone skills, and the many other necessary skills needed to become a star in professional wrestling.
The five-day camp will be held September 15-19 in Eldon, Missouri, beginning with registration Monday, September 15. It will include a live World League Wrestling event to be held Friday, September 19, which will feature both WLW regulars and wrestlers selected by WLW, NOAH, and WWE representatives to compete on the card. All wrestlers hoping to be considered for the live event must have a Missouri wrestling license before the camp begins. This will require a current physical and HIV and Hepatitis blood tests.
Appropriate forms may be obtained by contacting Meshell Rice at the State of Missouri Office of Athletics at 573-751-0243 or by faxing at 573-751-5649.
The camp is open to both current and aspiring wrestlers ages 18 and up. Female wrestlers are also encouraged to attend.
Cost for the camp is $500, including the $250 non-refundable deposit required to reserve a spot.
Camp availability is limited, so early registration will be required. Dozens of wrestlers missed out in 2007 when the camp reached capacity. Don’t miss out on your chance to attend the 2008 Harley Race/Pro-Wrestling NOAH camp!
Registration forms and further details will become available at harleyrace.com in the upcoming weeks.

New NWA Title Belt to Be Presented
(courtesy of www.georgiawrestlinghistory.com)
During the Ring of Honor event on August 2 in New York City, NY, NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce will be presented with a “new” belt prior to his title match against Brent Albright. This is being done to commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of the National Wrestling Alliance. The belt is a recreation of the belt awarded to Harley Race in 1973, which was also worn by Jack Brisco and Shohei Baba.

Augusta: The Great Wrestling Metropolis?
By now you've surely heard Watts and myself go on and on and on about that historic night in 1981 when Tommy Rich defeated Harley Race to win the NWA World title. You may have heard us recently comment that the only reason we continue to bring it up is because "it is the only significant wrestling moment to ever happen in Augusta, Georgia." Well I decided to investigate and after some online searching on YouTube of "Augusta Georgia Wrestling" I have come to the conclusion that Watts and I have made a serious error in judgement.
Take the below clip into consideration. Here we have a match from an event held on March 9th, 1993 at the Augusta Richmond County Civic Center (now know as James Brown Arena). This match from a WWF All-American Wrestling broadcast was, according to the YouTube poster, originally broadcast on the USA Network on April 11th, 1993. But WHICH USA Network? Judging by the commentators, not any USA Network I was watching! THIS version is from an international broadcast on what looks to be "Canal 1 RTP" and is commentated in Spanish, I believe, by one Tarzan Taborda. That's right folks, "Luta Livre Americana (RTP1) - Damian Demento vs Jim Duggan" from none other than Augusta, Georgia! Wonder what the banditos thought about this "classic" Demento/Duggan match from "Jorgia"? Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this was just a special Grovetown Cable broadcast.
Now how can one not get excited when tipped off that a new wrestling organization could be "invading" the CSRA? I know that I for one would be excited. Imagine my hypeness level when I came across this clip on YouTube from a user called "CSRAwrestling" (isn't that the address of this blog page?) claiming to "invade and take over Southern Style Wrestling"? Southern Style Wrestling? Is that a description or an organization? The description says "will they succeed or fail?". Well this clip was posted 8 months ago, we've never heard of CSRAwrestling OR Southern Style Wrestling (unless you mean the road weary Tommy Rich) so my vote would be: THEY FAILED. The 14 second clip also on the CSRAwrestling YouTube site posted a month ago and titled "Coded Message to AWF!" doesn't make me feel any different about my decision either.
What could be more significant than a local federation wrestling show hosted by a guy named Fury? Furthermore, what could be more interesting than brutal matches beld outdoors in and out of something that resembles a cattle pen? While there's no titantron there's an explosion of plywood entrance banners and plenty of mother nature. But if you think that no actual wrestling ring appears in this video, think again. Well, it actually looks like ring ropes around an unflated kiddie pool but hey I gotta give out a B- for creativity. You be the judge.
What could be more groundbreaking than a major wrestling organization holding a major pay-per-view in Augusta, Georgia? Such was the case a couple of years back when ECW held "December to Dismember" following a WWE total makeover. It was massive! OK, the event itself was not, but the main event match held outside the ticket box office was hardcore at its best. HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!
Sadly enough, aside from a mega ton of GCW clips (yep, that's right!), this is about all that comes up when searching for "Augusta Georgia Wrestling". Well that and a clip of Stud McCoy nailing a newscaster over the head with a guitar. Even the classic Race/Rich championship clip in Augusta from 1981 didn't show up. Disrespect.
Hmmm...maybe we were right in the first place...so for your viewing pleasure, wrestling history in the making: Tommy Rich vs then Champion Harley Race April 27th, 1981 in Augusta, Georgia as commentated a few days later by the legendary late Gordon Solie and Tommy Rich himself.
